HAMPTON - Anthony Coleman, 47, of the 700 block of New York Avenue, Hampton, passed away September 13, 2009 in the comfort of his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of Aiken, SC. He was preceded in death by his father. Nimrod Coleman and his brother, Charles Coleman and a brother-in-law, Thomas Winborne, Jr.
Anthony was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, Bronx, NY and received his Associate Degree from Monroe Community College. He was a veteran of the Navy and was employed as an Electronic Tech at Raytheon Company for 10 years.. He was a member of St. Timothy Baptist Church of Suffolk where he was a member of the Sunday School, Mass Choir, Men’s Ministry and Audio/Tape Ministry.
He leaves precious memories to his wife, Jewell Winborne Coleman; his daughter, Lauren Winborne; son, Ryan Winborne, all of Hampton; his mother, Marie Scott Coleman; eight sisters, Lorine Coleman, Jeanette Alexander (Larry), Verna Lewis, Karen Mozone (Thomas), Claurice M. Dingle, Sandra Coleman, Cynthia Reynolds and Ruth Thomas (Earnest); three brothers, Jimmy Lee Scott (Saye), Gilmore Coleman and Alfred O’Neal Coleman; godmothers, Katie Alexander, Virginia Evans and Frances Glover; father-in-law, Thomas Winborne, Sr. (Ethel); sisters and brothers-in-law, Dianne Gee (Clister), Barbara Walton (Lester), Wanda Lawrence (Antoine), Tonya Hall, Steven Winborne, Tony Winborne (Melissa), Terry Winborne (Kimberly) and Dwayne Winborne (Katrina); and other relatives and friends.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2009 at St. Timothy Baptist Church, 1613 East Washington Street, Suffolk, officiated by Pastor Thomas E. Harden, Jr. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. A Christian Wake service will be held 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2009 at St. Timothy Baptist Church. The family will be at 1105 Custis Road, Suffolk, VA. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
