ALTON HAMLIN, JR.

 

SUFFOLK —— Alton "Fella" Hamlin, Jr., 42, of 3260 Nansemond Parkway, Suffolk, died February 17, 2008 at the scene of an automobile accident on Nansemond Parkway. He was born in Suffolk to Alton Lee Hamlin, Sr. and Agnes Eley Hamlin.

Mr. Hamlin was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. He was the Owner and Operator of A & H Concrete. He was a member of New Jerusalem Holiness Church, Carrsville where he was musician and member of the Pastor’s Aide Committee.

Alton was preceded in death by a son, Laythell D. Wilson and a brother, Vernon L. Hamlin. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mrs. Shenetta F. Hamlin; three sons, Alvin K. White of Portsmouth, Tierro L. Williams of Cambridge, MD, and Demonz M. Wilson of Suffolk; mother, Agnes Eley Hamlin; father, Alton Lee Hamlin (Vanessa); two sisters, Rosemary H. Boone of Suffolk and Sabrina N. Hamlin of Portsmouth; two brothers, Larry Hamlin (Latoya) and Garry Hamlin of Suffolk; two grandchildren; grandmother, Susie Mae Hamlin; four god-children, Tria Artis, Nyeisha Dowdy, Madison Baker, and Aaron Poole; sister-in-law, Sonia Riddick (Marland); and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008 at New Mount Joy Food for Living Ministries, 307 County Street, Suffolk, officiated by Elder Darryl Artis. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will be at 3260 Nansemond Parkway. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
