CHESAPEAKE - Alethia J. Williams of 656 Willow Bend Drive, Chesapeake, went home to be with the Lord on April 18, 2008 at her residence. A native of Pitt County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Rosanna Walton Jenkins and the widow of George E. Williams.
Mrs. Williams was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Suffolk and formerly resided in New York. She was a member of Brooks Memorial United Methodist Church, Jamaica, New York where she served on the Hospitality and Food Ministry.
Left behind to mourn her loss and cherish her memory are her sisters, Louella Davis and Evelyn Edwards, both of Suffolk; devoted nieces, Bernadette Biggs and Treva Davis of Chesapeake, and Traci Biggs-Young of Charlotte, NC; devoted nephews, Jensen Gill of Virginia Beach and Tony Davis, Jr. of Chesapeake; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Special thanks is extended to close family friend, Nancy Jones; Dr. Michael Tucker, Dr. Daniel Atienza; Medi-Home Health Hospice nurses and staff, Helen, Jessica and Regina; the staff of Home Helpers, Joy, Angie, Fannie, and Adair; and the Sentara Radiation Oncology staff.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 112 Mahan Street, by The Reverend George Smith. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. A wake service will be held Wednesday from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 656 Willow Bend Drive, Chesapeake. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
