ANGELA MARIA JOHNSON

 

 

Angela Maria Johnson of Bonita Drive in Newport News, VA, at the young age of 51, answered her heavenly call on January 5, 2008 while rehabilitating at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA. Born April 6, 1956 in Annapolis, MD, to Ray G. Lehman of Johnstown, PA and the late Barbara Guiher Lehman, she was predeceased by her only sister, Mary. She attended Richland High School in Pennsylvania and later received both an Associates Degree and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business from St. Leo University.

Angela was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. Serving her country for four years, she was honorably discharged from the United States Army but continued her tenure as a Civil Service Worker for twenty-five years. During this time, she was deployed twice to Kuwait. She was currently employed with the United States Government as a Lead Traffic Management Specialist.

Much of Angela's spare time was spent with her granddaughter, Destiney Bell and cat, Dora. Playing Bingo was her favorite past time for she could often be found at any given hall but was well known at the American Legion. Her auxiliary affiliations include the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She will be truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Angela Crocker (Kalvin Bell) of Portsmouth, VA; three step-daughters, Maria Ricks (Charles) of Suffolk, VA and Amber Crocker and Ashley Crocker of Dale City, VA; one son, James; five step-sons; Felando Johnson (lamel) of Hampton, VA, Robert Johnson (Susan) of Washington State, and David Warren (Daisy), Eric Crocker (Marcia) and Thomas Crocker (Sharon) of Suffolk, VA; one grandchild, Destiney Bell; fifteen step-grandchildren; a host of other relatives; devoted ex-husband, Robert Johnson, Jr. of Newport News, VA; devoted friends Nancy Hafler, Cathy Hollenbach, Heidi Staicer, Carol Batchelor, Wilbur Jones and Charlie Wright; a devoted cousin, Cathy Fields and a special friend Audrus Rose.

A graveside Celebration of her Life's Service will be held at 1:00 p.m Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, VA prior to interment there. The family will receive visitors at 56 Bonita Drive, Newport News, VA and request that in lieu of flowers, all donations be made to any Animal Shelter or Association. Professional Services have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Suffolk, VA.
