Billie Sanford, Sr. of 715 Madison Street, Portsmouth, VA died Monday, March 2, 2009 at his residence. He was a native of Patterson, New Jersey and the son of the late James and Hannah Ruth Sanford. He was also predeceased by his wife, Norma Jean Sanford.

He graduated from East Suffolk High School and attended Howard University. He retired from Electric Cooker after 20 years.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Billie Sanford, Jr. (Caurletta) and Trinton Sanford (Annette); six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one brother, Dwight Drewitt; and other relatives and friends.

There will be a private memorial service Friday, March 6, 2009 officiated by Brother Soloman Darden, Jr. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
