SUFFOLK - Minister Corey Antwan Goodman, 34, departed this life on Saturday, February 16, 2008 in Sentara Obici Hospital.
He was a 1992 graduate of Lakeland High School and a member of the Dynamic Tones of Portsmouth. He served as a musician for several area churches and, at the time of his death, was organist for Galilee Baptist Church in Branchville, Virginia. He was a member of Galilee Baptist Church
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Mrs. Marie Goodman of the home, his father Mr. Thomas Harden of Suffolk; three children, Devontae Townsend of Churchland, Israel and Iyana Taylor of Branchville; a godson, Re-Shaun Rhodes; fiancéé, Ms. Summer Taylor of Branchville; godmother, Mrs. Arlethia Ward of Suffolk; three sisters, Anita Tatum of Chesapeake, Sebrina Smith of Norfolk, and Thomasine Herrera of Virginia Beach; three brothers, Mr. Predell Goodman (Voncier) of Richmond, Gregory Hardin of Wichita, KS, and Kenneth Hardin of Suffolk; a foster brother, Mr. Thomas Winborne (Katrina) of Hampton; several uncles and aunts, including a devoted aunt, Gladys Faulk who was also his caretaker; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Homegoing services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at New First Baptist Church, 1105 Hosier Road, Suffolk, by the Rev. Dr. Lemuel L. Greene. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. A Wake Service will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 3621 Nansemond Parkway, Tuesday evening, February 19, 2008 from 7:00––9:00 p.m. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
