CLARENCE CARY 

 

CHESAPEAKE - Clarence Cary, 82, of 913 Partridge Ave,, Chesapeake, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, VA. Clarence Cary was born July 7, 1925 to the late Charlie and Emma Cary. He was a native of Southampton County, VA. He had resided the majority of his adult life in the city of Chesapeake, Virginia. Clarence was a member of Antioch Baptist Church 525 Dinwiddie Street, Norfolk, Va. He was also a member of New light Masonic Loge # 196 F. & A. Masons, Inc. of Norfolk, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Emma Cary, his brothers Charlie Cary, Jr., Leroy Cary and Walter Cary, his sisters Helen Cary, Addie Cary, and Dorothy Edwards. Clarence retired from Wedge Wood Auto Service Center of Chesapeake, Va. after 23 years as an auto mechanic. After retirement he became the founder and sole propriety of Cary' s Auto Services.

He is survived by his beloved wife Lula May Cary of Chesapeake, Va., four sisters, Twin sister Florence Thornton of Lynchburg, Va., Georgia Davis and Odell Warren both of Ivor, Va., Adell Bowers of Washington, DC., two devoted nieces Vemell Thornton Wright (Edward) of Fort Washington, Md., Ann Simmons (Earl) of Va. Beach, Va., a devoted nephew McClenny Davis of Norfolk, Va., one devoted great nephew Kirk Clemons, of Norfolk, Va., three sister in-laws Claudia Hucks, Gladys Uzzle (George) both of Ivor, Va., Mable Hucks of Flushing, New York, a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A local viewing will take place at Antioch Baptist Church, 525 Dinwiddie St. Norfolk, Virginia from 9:00am-10:00am on Saturday, May 17,2008. The final viewing will be held from 11:30am to 12:30pm prior to his home going services at 1:00pm at Oilfield Baptist Church, 9040 Doles, Rd. Ivor, Va. The family will assemble at 913 Partridge Ave., Chesapeake at 10:30am Saturday morning to depart for Gilfield Baptist Church, Ivor, Va. The burial will take place at the Cary Family Cemetery, Ivor. Services have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc., 900 E. Washington Street, Suffolk.
