SUFFOLK - Carrie Eggleston Ridley, 97, of 117 N. Eighth Street, Suffolk, ended her earthly life and peacefully joined God’s Heavenly Caravan at Autumn Care of Norfolk, on December 20, 2007. She was a native of Edenton, North Carolina and the daughter of the late Dorcey and Sally Gregory Eggleston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Butler Ridley and her daughter, Elizabeth Ridley Ebron.
She retired from Planters Peanut Company after more than 35 years of service as a Processor. She was an active member of New Mount Joy Food for Living Ministry for over 40 years. She served on the No. 2 Usher Board and the Willing Workers Club until her health prevented her from attending.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Mary Ridley Jones (Stanley); four grandsons, Columbus Ebron (Annette) of Suffolk, Alvin Ebron (Juanita) of Portsmouth, Wayne E. Ebron of Jacksonville, NC, and Stanley Jones, Jr. of Virginia Beach; three granddaughters, Geraldine Holloman (Vernon), Rmintha Hicks of Suffolk, and Tara Davis (Tyrone) of Norfolk; one sister, Mable Beamon of Norfolk; 14 great grandchildren; and a host of Nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007 at New Mount Joy Food For Living Ministry by Bishop William P. Wiggins. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive guests at the home of Geraldine Holloman, 212 Beech Street, Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
