LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - Ms. Clayvoirn Williams, 61, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away February 5, 2008 in Las Vegas. She was a native of Suffolk and daughter of the late James W. Gatling, Sr. and Mary Williams Gatling. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James W. Gatling, Jr.
She was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and was employed at Metropolitan Home for Adults (now Nub Jones) in Suffolk, where she retired as Accounts Manager. She was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church of Suffolk and was mother of her church in Las Vegas.
She leaves to treasure her memory, a daughter, Lisa Pope of Las Vegas; four sons, Marvin Williams, Jimmy Pope, Jr., Christomer Pope, and Davon Pope, all of Las Vegas; three sisters, Mary F. Johnson of Suffolk, Olivette Strickland, and Virginia Hardy of Virginia Beach; three sons, Walter Hardy, Jr. Of Portsmouth, Darnell Hardy of Suffolk, and Michael Hardy of Alexandria; a host of nieces, nephews, family of the Popes, classmates and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 17, 2008 in Pleasant Union Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. V. T. Chambers. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 11:30 am. The family will be at the home of Rev. & Mrs. Nathaniel Johnson, 2277 Kings Fork Road and will assemble there at 12:00 noon on Tuesday for the procession to the church. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
