DOROTHY CHAPMAN

 

 

SUFFOLK - Dorothy Chapman of 5520 Towne Point Road, Suffolk, was born March 8, 1944 to the late Willie and Julia White. She departed this earthly life January 24, 2008 at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center, Portsmouth.

Dorothy was a faithful member of Mt. Lebanon Church of God In Christ, Hobson. She was a very active and dedicated member of her church and was a member of the Gospel Choir, Hospitality Committee, and Inspirational Choir.

She leaves to mourn her loss and cherish her memory: her son, Joshua Long; daughter, Sylvia Ann Long, both of Suffolk; sisters, Margie Norman of Newport News and Phyllis Elliott of Suffolk; three grandchildren, Daryl Long, Phoenix Long, and Tyron Long; three great grandchildren, Marcus Long, Charles Brown, and Phoenix Long, Jr.; 6 sisters-in-law, 4 brothers-in-law, special uncle, Linwood Copeland of Whaleyville (Suffolk); a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; a special friend, Carolyn Newby of Chesapeake.

A Homegoing Service to celebrate and honor her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Mount Lebanon Church of God In Christ, with Elder Larry Gray, Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. The family will be at the home of Daryl Long, 212 South Lloyd Street, Suffolk and at 5520 Towne Point Road, Apt. 408, Suffolk.
