CARRSVILLE –– David Daughtrey, Jr. of 31462 Pulaski Lane, Carrsville, entered into eternal rest and peace on May 31, 2008 at Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, Suffolk. He was born in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania and was son of the late David Daughtrey, Sr. and Beatrice Baker Daughtrey.

Mr. Daughtrey was retired from the Naval Air Systems Command, NAS, Norfolk after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of Pulaski Baptist Church of Carrsville where he sang in the Senior Choir, Gospel Choir, and Male Chorus, and was a member of the Usher Board, Sunday School, and Bible Study.

He leaves to cherish his memory, one sister, Louise Hines of Suffolk; brother, Joseph P. Daughtrey of Suffolk; niece, Denise James of California; uncle, Obediah Baker of Suffolk; a host of cousins; and his caretaker, M. Elaine Boone of Carrsville.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2008 at Pulaski Baptist Church, 6431 Carrsville Highway, Carrsville, and will be officiated by Dr. Robert E. Rodgers. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at 219 Prospect Road, #304, Suffolk and will assemble at Pulaski Baptist Church at 12:45 pm for the funeral. The body will be taken to the church at 11:30 am. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
