IVOR - Elias Edwards, Jr., 70, of 37061 Broadwater Road, Ivor, passed away February 21, 2008 at his residence. A native of Southampton County, he was son of the late Elias Edwards, Sr. and Daisy Johnson, and the widower of Laura Mae Edwards.

He was retired from International Paper Company. He was a faithful member of New Branch Baptist Church, Ivor.

He leaves to cherish fond memories, three daughters, Nita Hall and Avis Hall of Brooklyn, NY, and Paulette Edwards-Eley (Charles) of Courtland; five sons, Nathaniel Fisher (Geraldine) of Courtland, Carlton Lankford of Wakefield, Bobby R. Fisher of Ivor, Thaddeus A. Edwards, and Leon R. Edwards of Courtland; devoted godchild, Shawn L. Fisher (Rita); one brother, Chester L. Edwards (Ann) of Portsmouth; 19 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Eva Holloman and Louise Haskins; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The family extends special thanks to Sentara Home Health Care, Emily Lee-Carroll, and Celestine Blow.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at New Branch Baptist Church, officiated by The Rev. Frank L. Aikens. Interment will be in Gilfield Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Crocker Funeral Home Monday from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
