Suffolk - Evelyn J. Edwards of 1000 Litton Lane #6D, Suffolk, VA died Tuesday, March 17, 2009 in Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Suffolk and the daughter of the late Samuel and Roseana Walton Jenkins. She was also predeceased by her husband, Richard N. Edwards.

She retired from Planters Peanut Company and was a member of Local 26. Mrs. Edwards was a member of East End Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Carolyn Holland (Melvin) of Chesapeake, VA, Mary Bullock (James) of Fredericksburg, VA, Jacqueline Edwards of Suffolk and Audrey Taylor (Raymond) of Norfolk, VA; one son, Richard Edwards, Jr. (Antonia) of Hampton, VA; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren;one sister, Louella Davis of Suffolk; a devoted niece, Vivian Turner(Robert); nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009 at East End Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Mark D. Croston. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will be at her residence. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
