SUFFOLK – Essie Mae Arline of Suffolk, Virginia,  was called to her eternal rest and peace June 14, 2008.  She was born in Rich Square, North Carolina and was daughter of the late Lousaria Lassiter Creekmore and Lonnie Grant. She was educated in the Nansemond County schools and was a retired domestic worker. She was a member of St. Matthew Holiness Church.

Mrs. Arline was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Arline, Sr.; three daughters. Shirley Waters, Novella Barnes, and Bertha Arline; two sons, Nathaniel Lassiter, and Wilson Walker; and two brothers, Johnnie Lassiter and Charlie Lassiter. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Catherine Arline of Suffolk and Doretha (James Frazier) of Atlanta, GA; four sons, Edward Lassiter of Jamaica, NY, Henry (Violet) Arline of Pleasantville, NJ, James (Julia) Arline, and Joe (Shirley) Arline, of Suffolk; a goddaughter, Carolyn Johnson; 22 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, June 21, 2008 at Metropolitan Baptist Church and will be conducted by Pastor Sarah Hill. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will be at 103 Castle Court and at 2525 E. Washington Street, Apt. 401-D, Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
