SUFFOLK - Ella Mae Wilson, 80, of 807 McKinley Avenue, Suffolk, went home to be with the Lord on February 17, 2008 at Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. A native of Gates County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Betty Douglas Daughtry and the widow of Richard H. Wilson. She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Wilson.
Mrs. Wilson retired as a Domestic Worker in New York City in 1996 after 40 years of service. She was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church and the Westside Civic League.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Roland Wilson and his wife, Yolanda of Suffolk; two sisters, Eutha Mae Valler and Betty Sue Deloatch, both of Suffolk; six grandchildren, Tracey Holmes, Patricia Wilson, Sonya Franklin, Shani Pusey, Sylvia Bailey, and Ron Mason; fourteen great grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; ten nephews, eight nieces, including three devoted nieces, Therese Skeeter, Mildred Skeeter, and Constance Cheeks; and several cousins.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Bethlehem Christian Church, Bute Street, Suffolk, officiated by the pastor, The Rev. Emmanual Myrick, Jr. Interment will be in the Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery. The family will be at 118 Bute Street, Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
