ZUNI - Fletcher Lee Nichols, Sr., 77, of 37083 Seacock Chapel Road, Zuni, entered into eternal rest on December 26, 2007 at Sentara Obici Hospital. A native of Southampton County, he was the son of the late Junious and Ruth B. Nichols and the widower of Arleen H. Nichols.
Mr. Nichols attended the Ebenezer School and Sussex County Training School and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He retired as a Supervisor at Northrop Grumman, Newport News Shipbuilding in 1992 after 38 years of employment there. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he was a member of the Male Chorus, Senior Choir, Combined Choir, and was a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was also a member of the Ivor Grove Masonic Lodge.
He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, T. Angela Southall of Zuni and Bianca McClenny of Upper Marlboro, MD; two sons, David Nichols (Lorraine) of Carrollton, VA and Fletcher L. Nichols, Jr. (Synethia) of Roanoke, VA; two brothers, Charlie D. Nichols (Florence) of Ivor and Woodrow Nichols (Thelma) of Sedley, VA; five grandchildren, Antoine and Danielle Nichols, Arielle Southall, Joseph and Jared Nichols; a special son, Demetric Spratley; and other relatives and friends.
A Service to celebrate his life will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, December 31, 2007 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 10686 Ivor Road, Ivor, VA with The Rev. William T. Smith, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home, Suffolk, is handling arrangements.
