Fletcher Lee Powell, 62 of 134 South 5th Street, Suffolk, VA died November 16, 2009 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of Bertha Mae Powell and the late Joseph Henry Powell.
He attended East Suffolk High School and was formerly employed by the City of Suffolk.
He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Shannon Roberts of Gates, NC; three grandchildren; two sisters, Antoinette Turner (Harlee) and Chiquita Holland (Antonio) both of Suffolk; one brother, Alvin D. Powell (Carolyn) of Suffolk; one sister-in-law, Joyce W. Powell of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three aunts, Ruth Hairston of High Point, NC, Edna Gholston and Betty Goodwin both of Smithfield; two uncles, James Stagg of Baltimore, MD and Mack Lassiter, Sr. of Suffolk; fourteen nieces, eight nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Crocker Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Bishop Marshall Goodwin. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
