GEORGIA CARY DAVIS 
 
 

 Ivor – Friday morning, September 25, 2009 at Consulate Health Care Center in Windsor, VA, our hearts were saddened by the passing of our beloved mother, Mrs. Georgia Cary Davis, 94.

Georgia was born January 14, 1915 in Southampton County, Virginia to the late Charlie and Emma Cary. She was a lifelong native of Southampton County attending it’s rural public schools. Georgia joined Gilfield Baptist Church at an early age and remained a loyal and dedicated member until her death. At Gilfield, she served in many capacities from the Missionary Board to her final position as mother of the church. As a retired domestic worker, she rejoiced in the fact that through Christ all things are possible.

After reaching the age of adulthood, Georgia was united in Holy matrimony to Isaac Davis in Southampton County on February 2, 1935. This was an enduring relationshiip that spanned more than fifty years until God called Isaac home to his eternal resting place to this blissful union God bestowed upon them thirteen offsprings.

Georgia was predeceased by her parents, Charlie and Emma Cary; her husband, Isaac Davis; three sisters, Helen and Addie Cary and Dorothy Edwards. Four brothers, Leroy, Charlie, Walter and Clarence Cary; three sons, Isaac, Charlie and McCoy Davis.

She is survived by six daughters, Georgia Ann Davis-Simmons (Earl) of Virginia Beach, VA, Elizabeth Parham (Bernard) of Lynchburg, VA, Minister Shirley Martin (Roosevelt) of Copperas Cove, Texas, Lucy Wynn, Emma Faltz and Mary Lee Davis of Ivor, VA; four sons, Ronnie Davis, Sr. (Avis) of Wakefield, VA, John Davis (Clare) of Ivor, VA, Ulysses Davis (Gladys) of Lynchburg, VA and McClenny Davis (Rosa) of Norfolk, VA; twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-two great grands and five great great grands; three sisters, Odell Warren of Ivor, Florence Thornton of Lynchburg, VA and Adell Bowers of Washington, DC; a daughter-in-law, Sadie Davis of Ivor, VA; with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Crocker Funeral Home, 900 East Washington Street, Suffolk. A funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 2, 2009 at Gilfield Baptist Church, 9040 Doles Road in Ivor. Rev. E. E. Mitchell, Jr. will be the Eulogist with host pastor Kenneth Ricks officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
