Gloria Jean Holley

GLORIA JEAN "BIG JEAN" HOLLEY 

 

SUFFOLK – Gloria Jean "Big Jean" Holley, 64, of 415 Briggs Street, Suffolk, went home to be with the Lord July 11, 2008. She was a native of Nansemond County. She was a member of New Mount Joy Food for Living Ministries where she was a member of the Senior Choir and Pastor’’s Aid.

Mrs. Holley was preceded on the journey to the Great Beyond by her husband, Jessie Gray Holley; parents, Robert Nune and Mamie Evertta Jones-Coles; a son, Dexter Vinson; two sisters, Madeline "Cleo" Bernard and Elizabeth "Leah" Skinner; and a brother, Robert Coles.

She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Jewel Bailey (Pete), Felecia King (Davious), of Hanover, PA, Mae Cofield (James) of Suffolk and Anita Lee (Douglas) of Virginia Beach; one son, Braxton Vinson of Suffolk; one brother, Wallace Coles (Lillian) of Roanoke; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; a special and dear aunt, Elizabeth Edwards; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A homegoing service will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2008 at New Mount Joy Food for Living Ministries. Bishop Willliam P. Wiggins will be the Eulogist. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will be at the residence. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
