Inez "Aunt I" Colbert, 86 of 1210 Lake Kennedy Drive, Suffolk, VA died Sunday, October 25, 2009 at her residence. She was a native of Southampton County, VA and the daughter of the late Richard and Louvenia Ridley Colbert. She was also predeceased by four sisters, Blanche Wright, Betty Brown, Alice Randall, Louise Jolly; two brothers, William Colbert and Richard Colbert, Jr.

She retired from Hillcrest Nursing Home. Ms. Colbert was a member of Macedonia A.M.E. Church where she was on the Senior Usher Board, a member of the Lay Organization, Missionary Society, Adult Sunday School Class and the Wednesday night Bible Study.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Gloria Colbert of Suffolk; one sister, Ann Colbert of Newark, NJ; a devoted niece, Patricia Hernandez (Ramon) of Portsmouth; devoted nephew, William H. Wright (Evelyn) of Suffolk; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Macedonia A.M.E. Church officiated by Rev. Charles L. Harvin, Sr. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. A wake will be Wednesday, October 28, 2009 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home Chapel. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
