Rev. James A. Boone of 100 Dover Court, Apt. 102, Suffolk, Va. passed away January 20, 2008 in Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Windsor, Va. and the son of the late, Mark and Myrtle Lassiter Boone. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ernestine Boone and Mable Lee Everett.

Rev. Boone attended Greensboro, N.C. Public schools where he received his diploma. He later attended A&T State University in North Carolina where he received his bachelor’s degree. He retired as a Police Officer from the High Point Police Department in 1995 after completing 30 years of service. He also served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged.

He was a member of the Lion’s Club and a mason. He also served as a Pastor in several churches in North Carolina before returning to Virginia.

He leaves to cherish his memory: three daughters, Reneta Boone Harvey of Hawaii, Patricia Boone of Hampton, Va. and Salena Boone of California; one son, James Boone, Jr. of Greensboro, NC; one brother, Willie Boone of Nyack, N.Y. and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, January 25, 2008 at Crocker Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Delma Lassiter, 303 Smith Street, Suffolk.
