Ivor - James Arthur Davis, 81 of 34049 General Mahone Boulevard, Ivor, VA died Friday, April 24, 2009 at his residence. He was a native of Southampton County, VA and the son of the late Arthur and Lethea W. Davis.

He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Beulah Land A.M.E. Zion Church where he was a Steward.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Katherine L. Davis of Ivor; three daughters, Karen Joe-Ligui of New York, NY, Frances Joe-Wedderburn (George) of New York, and Kathy Graham (Kenneth) of New York; three sons, Sidney Joe of New York, Wayne Joe of New York and Vincent Joe (Linsey) of New Hampshire; two adopted daughters, Carol Neclos of Zuni and Pamela Warren of Courtland, VA; twenty-six grandchildren and sixteen great great grandchildren; one sister, Gloria Davis of Smithfield, VA; one brother, Edward Davis of Surry, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Beulah Land A.M.E. Zion Church, 34122 Clayton Road, Zuni officiated by Rev. Joseph Whitney. Interment will be in Gilfield Baptist Church Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
