John D. “John Buck” Thompson, 90 of 606 Turlington Road, Suffolk died Sunday, February 28, 2010 in Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth. He was a native of Lewiston, NC and the son of the late David and Annie Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Thompson.

 

Mr. Thompson was a longtime resident of Golden Living Community Nursing Home. He retired after 20 years as a custodian for the City of Suffolk. He was a member of New Mt. Joy Food For Living.

 

He is survived by four daughters, Hester A. Knight (James), Annie M. Wiggins both of Suffolk, Shirley M. Montgomery, Barbara J. Bray of Westbury, NY; six sons, George W. Thompson, William Thompson (Barbara), Leroy Thompson (Cynthia), John L. Thompson, Gary A. Thompson all of Suffolk and Allen J. Thompson of Westbury, NY; one brother, Eddie Thompson of Lewiston, NC; 27 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

A funeral will be held 12:00 noon, Friday, March 5, 2010 in New Mount Joy Food For Living with Pastor Viola Parker, officiating. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
