SUFFOLK - Johnnie Felton Edwards Jr. of the 100 block of N. Capital St., died Tuesday, March 2, 2010 in Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Suffolk and the son of Harriet L. Edwards and the late Johnnie Edwards Sr. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Dean Edwards.
He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School, St. Paul's College and Old Dominion University. He received a B.A. degree in business administration and a master's in administration. He was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church. Mr. Edwards was a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, East Suffolk Federated Civic League, Economic Development Authority, Suffolk Substance Abuse and Youth Council and Suffolk Inner City Athletic Association.
He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Yvette Edwards of Durham, N.C., and Janice Edwards of Suffolk; one son, Johnnie Edwards of Suffolk; two sisters, Lillian Faulk of Suffolk; one brother, Keevin Edwards (June) of Marietta, Ga.; nephews, Coley Faulk of Suffolk and Cordell Faulk of Charlottesville; nieces, Keevana and Bailey Edwards both of Marietta; close friends, David Baker and B.J. Willie both of Suffolk and Irvin Mitchell of Virginia Beach; other relatives and many friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens officiated by Dr. Robert Hobbs. No public viewing. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
