John L. Riddick of Jamaica New York embarked upon his final journey at Jamaica hospital, Jamaica New York into eternal rest on Saturday, February 16, 2008, soon to reunite with his loved ones who preceded him. This bundle of joy was placed in the arms and heart of the late John L. Davis and the late Lucy Riddick. He was affectionately called by his friends and family as "June" and "Bud".
John was born in Suffolk Virginia where he was a graduate of Booker T. Washington high school where he was a member of the football and basketball teams. He also attended Kentucky College.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John Davis and Lucy Riddick, grandmothers, Mary Smith and Annie Austin Davis and one niece Michelle Riddick-Rose.
John leaves to cherish his fond memories his longtime companion, Christine Rowe, one step son Michael Rowe, one stepdaughter Sabrina R. Law both of Montgomery Alabama, two sisters, Blanche Riddick-Rose of Brooklyn New York and Geradine Riddick Darden of Suffolk, Virginia, one brother Henry L. Riddick of New York, a host of nieces, nephews cousins and a very special friend Leotis Tillery as well as the Booster Club friends and classmates and Coach Charles Christian He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 125 County Street, Suffolk, officiated by Dr. Robert Hobbs, Pastor. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will assemble at 1056 Centerbrook Lane, Apt. 424. Crocker Funeral Home is handling local arrangements.
