MISS JODIE M. CARSON 

 

Miss Jodie M. Carson, the daughter of the late Mr. Johnnie J. Carson and Pearl Ferguson Carson, passed away on March 31,2008 at 5:20 AM. She was preceded in death by a brother, John D. Carson. Miss Carson, a native of Suffolk, Virginia graduated from East Suffolk High School and was a resident of Detroit, Michigan for over fifty years.

She graduated from North Carolina State College, Lincoln School of Nursing with a major in nursing receiving a degree in 1951. She received a degree in Anesthesiology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1958, a Bachelor Applied Science degree from Seina Heights College, Adrian, Michigan in 1980, and a Certificate: American Association of Physician Assistant 1981, Henry Ford Hospital, Manpower Development Management Certificate, Health Information Development Association, Seminar, Certificate of Recognition in 1981.

She was a former employee at Kerwood General Hospital as Chief Nurse Anesthetist 1967-1995. At Burton Mercy Hospital as Staff Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist 1958-1967. Burton Mercy Hospital as Supervisor of Premature and Newborn Nursing 1951-1956. North West General Hospital, as Chief Nurse Anesthetist, 1987-1990, also at Straith Hospital as General Staff Anesthetist, 1990 until retirement. Organization affiliations include State Board of Nursing Specialty; Michigan Association of Nurse Anesthetist; American Association of Nurse Anesthetist; Council of Recertification, and American Association of Physicians Assistant.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Dorthelia C. Bryant (Husband Joseph) of Locust Grove, Virginia; brothers, Earl N. Carson (Wife Cecilia); Parris D. Carson (Wife Jeanette); James L. Carson, Sr. (Wife Mary Ann) all of Suffolk, Virginia; Willie Leslie Carson of Portsmouth, Virginia; many nieces and nephews, a host of other relatives and friends, plus a devoted and forever friend Mrs. Mary Ann Singleton of Detroit, Michigan.

She will be greatly missed because of her fun loving life style, smile, dedication and devotion to the family.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Tabernacle Christian Church, officiated by The Rev. Dr. Carlton Upton, Pastor. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
