SUFFOLK - James T. Almond, 69, of 1218 Whitemarsh Road, Suffolk, passed away Monday, February 4, 2008 at his residence. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late Tyler and Marie Cook Almond. He was employed as a mechanic by Herman White Bus Company and by Samuel Taylor.
Mr. Almond leaves to cherish lasting memories, one daughter, Tonya Lewis (James) of Suffolk; one son, Kenneth Goodman of Suffolk; four sisters, Marjorie Almond (Herman) of Cambria Heights, NY, Alice Manley (Warrenton) and Shirley Branch of Suffolk, and Sandra Almond Cooper (James) of Baltimore, MD; one brother, Samuel Almond of Suffolk; three grandchildren, James Lewis, Jr., Tyree Lewis, and Dominique Lewis; nieces, nephews, including one devoted nephew, Michael Slaughter, cousins, and friends, including special friends, Lillian Goodman and Herman White.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Crocker Funeral Home, with The Rev. Linwood Daughtrey, officiating. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
