Joseph Walker, 54, of 305 Bank St., No. 7, died Friday, June 12, 2009 at his residence. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of Amanda W. Walker and the late Leonard Walker.

He was a graduate of John Yeates High School and attended Elizabeth City State University. He was a former dentist technician. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Male Chorus and the Sunday school.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Amanda W. Walker, of Suffolk; one sister, Deborah Bailey, of Suffolk; two brothers, Horace Walker, of Richmond, Va., and Jonathan Walker (Deborah), of Norfolk, Va.; one aunt, Annie Mae Woody; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

The funeral service will be at noon, Friday, June 19, 2009 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 8300 Crittenden Road, Suffolk, officiated by the Rev. Melvin Lyttle. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family will be at 124 Eagle Lane in Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
