Kevin J. Darden, 50 of 1306 Sierra Drive, Suffolk, VA died Monday, October 26, 2009 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Norfolk, VA and the son of the late Joel and Marion B. Darden. He was also predeceased by his sister, Doris Oats; brother, Keith Darden and a special niece, Sandra Basnight.

He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, Norfolk and attended Norfolk State University. He was a member of St. Mark United Church of Christ.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Clara M. Darden; three daughters, Alicia Moore of Virginia Beach, VA, Angelia Gilchrist (Donald) of Suffolk, and Shaherah Perry (Walter) of Baltimore, MD; one son, Brian D. Porter (Joy) of Chesapeake, VA; five grandchildren, a devoted grandson, Breon D. Porter, one great grandchild; two sisters, Loretta Brazell and Deloris Olds both of Norfolk, VA; one brother, Walter Brazell of Chesapeake; aunt, Marilyn West; uncles, Alton Boone (Francie) and Walter Boone (Thelma); a devoted mother-in-law, Marion B. Barnes; sisters-in-law, Patricia Brazell, Gloria Scott, Cynthia McCoy, Brenda Williams and Annette Richardson; brothers-in-law, Earl Williams and Arthur Richardson; several nieces, nephews, cousins and lots of devoted friends.

A funeral service will be 12:30 p.m., Friday, October 30, 2009 at St. Mark United Church of Christ, 521 Obendorfer Road, Berkley area of Norfolk, VA officiated by Elder Annette Richardson. The remains will be placed in the church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at 1306 Sierra Drive, Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
