Louis Hyman "Jack" Biggs

LOUIS HYMAN "JACK" BIGGS 

   

SUFFOLK - Louis Hyman "Jack" Biggs, 83, 309 Duke Street, Suffolk, passed away December 19, 2008 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. A native of Edgecombe County, NC, he was the son of the late Hyman Louis and Bloomie Kearney Biggs and the widower of Henrietta Moore Biggs. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mamie Pittman; a brother, James Smith; a brother-in-law, Leon Jenkins and four sisters-in-law, Magdalene Smith, Emma Smith, Caroline Berry and Birdell Smalls.

Mr. Biggs retired from the Virginia Department of Highways in 1990 after more than forty years of service. He was a member of Gates of Heaven Church of God In Christ.

He leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters, Almeta Johnson (Charles) of Ridgeland, SC, Jacqueline Grant (Clarence) of Suffolk and Margo Davis (Phillip) of Augusta, GA; one son, Tokie Biggs (Beverly) of Suffolk; one sister, Shirley Braswell of Tarboro, NC; one brother, Edward Smith of Hampton; four grandchildren, Saquilla Hall (Channing) of Atlanta, GA, Vandell Taylor of Suffolk, Tokia Goodman of Smithfield and Torie Biggs of Suffolk; one great grandchild, Eliana Hall; two sisters-in-law, Tina Jenkins and Lillie Jenkins; other relatives and a host of friends.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Gates of Heaven COGIC, Beech Street, Suffolk, officiated by Elder Sylvester Silver. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 11:00 a.m. The family will be at the residence, 309 Duke Street.
