Lola Mable Bradford, "Big Sis", beloved daughter of the late Ferry Parker Sr. and Pecolia I. Steward was born on July 16, 1928 in Nansemond County (Suffolk), Virginia. She departed this life on April 29, 2008 at her home in New Jersey.

Lola’s education began at Nansemond Parkway’s Rose and Wall Elementary School and East Suffolk High School. From there she took classes at Rockland Community College in Orangeburg, NY, where she became a registered nurse. She was a former employee of Rockland State Mental Hospital in New York. In 1988, she married Mr. James Bradford of Spring Valley, NY. Lola’s love and compassion for her husband and family was to be admired. She was a woman small in stature but one with a strong and determined will to let nothing get the best of her. She was one who possessed a quiet and sweet demeanor towards those she came in contact with. She had the trademark of the pretty lady with the soft smile and pretty hair.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories: her beloved husband, Mr. James Bradford of New Jersey, a step daughter, Connie and grandson, her brothers, Mr. Ferry "Buck" Parker, Lewis E. Parker, Sr. (Juanita), both of Suffolk, two sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 7, 2008 in Crocker Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Madison Copeland officiating. Family will assemble at the home of Lewis Parker, 1120 Portsmouth Blvd. Suffolk at 12:00 Noon for the procession to the funeral. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
