Mrs Owens was a member in the Odessa Tent Lodge # 590 of the United Order Of Tents where she served as leader for several years. She later became a national member and served on the Nurses unit locally and nationally. She was a member of Mt. Ararat Missionary Lodge # One.
She met and fell in love with the late Joe Thomas Owens of Nansemond County (Suffolk Virginia). They enjoyed a long life together and to that union was born six children one preceded her in death Margaret O. Robinson. She was blessed to be a full time housewife.
She leaves to cherish her memory; daughters, Kathleen O. Simmons of Portsmouth, Lennora O. Skeeter, Marice Griffith (Clyde) Portsmouth, Gloria Perry (foster). Sons, Joe Henry Owens, Wesley B. Owens, Earl Eley (foster), (Jannine) Chesapeake. 13 grandchildren 3 foster, 25 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren One sister Mrs. Rebecca Reid (107 years old) and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
