Mary Evelyn Johnson of 124 South Capital Street, Suffolk, died Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Sunbury, NC and the daughter of the late Clifton Norman and Georgia Marie Riddick. She was also preceded in death by her son, Steven Lee Johnson.
She attended Sunbury Public Schools. She was a Home Health Aide for twenty years.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Sandra Deloris Johnson of Suffolk; one son, Wilbert Lee Johnson, Jr. of Suffolk; eight grandchildren; five sisters, Edith O. Long of Franklin, VA, Mary L. Norman, Vera V. Norman, Peggy A. Norman and Dorothy J. Norman all of Suffolk; one brother, Willie L. Norman of Suffolk; an aunt, Gladys N. Burrus and an uncle, Willie J. Burrus; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Crocker Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Minister Paul Paige. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will be at 213 North 7th Street, Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
