SUFFOLK - Melvin L. Harcum of 111 Shepherd Street, Suffolk, passed away March 30, 2008 in the Veterans Medical Center, Hampton. He was born in Suffolk and was son of the late Willie and Mary Jordan Harcum. Three sisters and five brothers also preceded him in death. He was a 1955 graduate of East Suffolk High School and a veteran of the United States Army.

He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Christopher Harcum; a devoted niece, Linda Brown of Suffolk; two sisters, Deloris Cockrell (James) and Gary Harcum of New York; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Crocker Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Travis Copeland. Entombment will be at Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
