Suffolk - Melvin Lee Harden, 57 of 302 York Street, Suffolk died Thursday, February 5, 2009 at his residence. He was a native of Nansemond County and son of the late Jaydee and Martha Jordan Harden and was also preceded in death by a sister, Kim Harden and a brother, Darnell Harden. He was a member of Sixth Street Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Pamela Harden; one daughter, Erica Harden of Suffolk; two sons, Melvin Harden, Jr. and Demetrius Williams of Petersburg, VA; a stepson, Tremain Knight of Newport News, VA; six grandchildren; three sisters, Justine Jones (Albert), Flossie Horace and Tina Stevenson all of Suffolk; five brothers, Howard Harden, Ronald Harden (Carolyn), Donald Harden, Tracy Harden (Mary) and Derrick Harden all of Suffolk; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2009 at Sixth Street Baptist Church officiated by Dr. James B. Williams. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will be at 1116 Woods Parkway. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
