Marie Laury Jordan, 89, of 209 Charlotte Ave., Suffolk, passed away January 27, 2008 in Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late Albert Allen and Louise Biggs Laury. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Lee Jordan; one sister, Vera Mae Phillips; and one brother, William Laury.

Mrs. Jordan was a retired domestic worker. She was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church and the Friendship Bible Sunday School Class. She served faithfully on the Senior Usher Ministry.

She leaves to treasure her memory: one son, Marvin Lee Laury (Betty) of Suffolk; one sister, Clara L. Richardson of Virginia Beach; one aunt, Adelaide B. Montgomery of Suffolk; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, 7 nieces, 5 great nephews, one great great nephew, one great niece and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2008 at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 125 County Street, Suffolk, with Dr. Robert L. Hobbs, officiating. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 126 S. Fourth Street, Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
