SUFFOLK – Nathan Fields, at age 50, won his victory over the troubles of this life when the Lord rescued him from sickness and pain on Friday, June 13, 2008. Nathan was the son of the late Helen Jones Fields and Nathan N. Fields, Sr. He was a native of Portsmouth, VA.
He graduated in 1977 from Wilson High School and, in 1982 Virginia State University with a BS degree in Education. He was employed by the Western Tidewater CSB, Suffolk, VA. He was a member of Alpha and Omega Baptist Fellowship and a former member of First Baptist Church, Mahan Street, Suffolk.
Nathan was preceded in death by a son and a daughter, Nathan Manesseh Fields and Iyonna Valori Frields.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a wife, Valerie Boone Fields; five sisters, Delores Hawkins (Ronald), Suffolk, VA, Geraldine Staton (Moses) of Suffolk, Sharon Fields of Portsmouth, Helena Downing, Gaithersburg, MD Marva Bobo (Byron) of Gaithersburg, MD; two brothers, Ronald Fields (Felicia) of Portsmouth and William Fields (Donte) of Clarksburg, MD; godchild, Jordan Drayton; four aunts, Doris Waddler, Thelma McCall, Shirley Fields, and Mabel Fields; two uncles, Waddell Fields and Willie McCall; a mother-in-law, Barbara Boone; two sisters-in-law, Dianne Harris (Osmond), Richmond and Linda Skeeter (Nathaniel), Suffolk, three brothers-in-law, William Boone (Tracey), Richmond, Raymond Boone, Fayetteville, NC, and Clyde Boone, Suffolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2008, 1:00 pm at Tabernacle Christian Church, 2500 East Washington Street, Suffolk. Pastor Edwin Goodwin will deliver the eulogy, Minister Darryl Townsend will officiate. Viewing to begin Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at noon. Wake will be held, Tuesday, June 17, 2008 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Crocker Funeral Home, 900 E. Washington Street, Suffolk. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
