Suffolk - Robert Lee "Buster" Ricks, Sr., 70 entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Southampton County and the son of the late Gloss Ricks Warren.

Robert was born May 12, 1939 and attended Southampton County Public Schools. He was a member of St. Luke UCC, Sedley Virginia. Robert retired from Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company.

Buster leaves to cherish his memory one son, Robert Ricks, Jr. of Suffolk; four daughters, Iris Gholston (James), Angela Ricks-Williams (Huddie), LaShawnda Evans (Rodell) all of Suffolk and Linda Ricks of Alexandria, VA; five grandchildren, Irishia Gholston, Aneshia Ricks, Crystal Gholston, Rodell Evans, III and Zoe Evans; a sister, Catherine Warren Nicholson of Hampton, VA; two brothers, James Warren (Vivian) of Sedley, VA and Nathaniel Warren (Liz) of Virginia Beach, VA; an aunt, Maggie Jennings of Hampton, VA; his friend, Bertha Bowers; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Luke UCC, 14166 St. Luke’s Road, Sedley, VA. Interment will be in the Ricks Family Memorial Garden. The family will be at the home of James & Iris Gholston, 390 Collier Crescent (Walnut Hill) in Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
