RUTH MARIE DIXON

 

 

SUFFOLK - Ruth Marie Dixon, 82, of Mahlon Ave., Suffolk, passed away December 20, 2007. She was a native of Nansemond County and the oldest daughter of the late Elijah and Clara Holley Dixon.

She was educated in Nansemond County public schools and was a graduate of C. H. Mason Bible College. Ms. Dixon was retired from Planters Peanut Company after 40 years of service and was a member of Local 26 Union. She was a member of Greater First Baptist Church, Orlando.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her sisters, Lillie M. Dixon Hinton of Hampton and Josephine D. Jones (Ernest) of Suffolk; eight nieces, Carolyn Simpson of Hampton, Beverly J. Barrios of Suffolk, Linda J. Silver (Sylvester) of Suffolk, Camilla Hunter (Gregory) of Norfolk, Iris Jones of Suffolk Shelia J. Bennett (Christian) of Waverly, Constance J. Ruffin of Suffolk, and Bridget Jones Smith (Phillip) of Hagerstown, MD; six nephews, Andrew Jordan (Diane) of Newport News, Cecil Jordan of Hampton, Tony Jones (Elaine of Kingston, NY, Ernest Jones, Jr. of Suffolk, William Jones (Mary) of Suffolk, and Clayton Jordan (Sonja) of Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by her niece, Cecile Jordan. She is also survived by a host of cousins, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A. M. Thursday, December 17, 2007 at First Baptist Church, Orlando, by Dr. Henry G. Baker. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
