Mrs. Rebecca Pierce, 95 of 10102 Kathleen Drive, Fort Washington, MD died on April 15, 2009 in Doctors Community Hospital, Lanham, MD. She was a native of Nansemond County (Suffolk), Virginia She was born to the late John Henry and Sallie Boone Coston.

She was predeceased by two husbands, Joseph Johnson and Thomas E. Pierce, Sr.; one sister, Mary C. Eure; two brothers, Willie and James Coston; two brothers-in-law, James T. Gary, Sr. and Melvin Eure.

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving family which includes a sister, Mrs. Annie Coston Gary of Ft. Washington, MD; one stepson, Thomas Pierce Jr. of Louisville, KY; one stepdaughter, Betty Fox of Yonkers, NY; two nieces, Patricia Gary Green and Sandra Gary Everett (Barry) of Landover Hills and Springdale, MD; four nephews, William Tyrone Gary (Yolanda) of Midway, GA, James T. Gary, Jr. (Margaret) of St. Louis, MO, Anthony W. Gary (Liz) of Virginia Beach, VA and J. Kevin Gary (Tonya) of Ft. Washington, MD; fifteen grand nieces and nephews; ten great grandnieces and grandnephews and several close friends.

A funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Canaan Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery. A wake will take place on Friday, April 24, 2009 at Crocker Funeral Home, 900 East Washington Street, Suffolk from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
