He attended I. C. Norcom High School and Tidewater Community College. He retired from the U. S. Army in 1967 after four years of service. He served in Vietnam and received two Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry, Compainee badge. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Rachel Edwards of Suffolk (who was his care giver) and Titilayo Zeigler (Stanley) of Chesapeake; two sons, Michael Knight of Suffolk and Rodney Edwards (Kimberly) of Hampton; two brothers, John Edwards and Richmond Edwards (Christine) of Suffolk; thirteen grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2008 at Crocker Funeral Home, 900 E. Washington Street, Suffolk. Interment will be in AG Horton Jr Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
