SUFFOLK - Robert Tillman Cross, Sr., 89, of the 400 block of South Sixth Street, Suffolk, entered into eternal rest and peace on Sunday, November 25, 2007 at his residence. A native of Nansemond County, he was the son of the late James Washington and Vinie L. Small Cross and the widower of Alphine Artis Cross.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran and was retired as a truck driver from the Norfolk Naval Base.

He leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories to his daughters, Gladys Williams (Norman) of Norfolk, Vanessa C. Hicks (Willie) of Suffolk, Katherine C. Hodges (Kenneth) of Chesapeake, and Marion W. Copeland (Donnell) of Suffolk; sons, Joseph T. Cross, Robert T. Cross, Jr., William K. Cross, Jeffrey E. Cross (Carroll), and James A. Cross (Cindy), all of Suffolk; two sisters, Mary Nell Branch and Constance C. Wallace (William) of Norfolk; a devoted grandchild, Timothy J. Cross (Moniquie); ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a special niece, Vonnie Felton of Inwood, NY, a special nephew, Shelton Scott of Chicago, IL; three brothers-in-law, J. C. Pinson of Inwood, NY, Curtis Scott of Far Rockaway, NY, and James Parson, Jr. of Washington, DC; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Parson of Far Rockaway, NY, Annie Cross of San Antonio, TX, Earlene Parson of Suffolk, and Christine Parson of Washington, DC; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, November 30, 2007 at Bethlehem Christian Church, 312 Bute Street, Suffolk, by Pastor Emanuel Myrick. Interment will be in the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive friends at Crocker Funeral Home from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday and will be at 501 South Sixth Street, Suffolk.
