Rose Virginia Allen, 89, of 1512 Lake Speight Dr., Suffolk went home to be with the Lord, December 9, 2007 at Nansemond Pointe Nursing Home. She was a native of Suffolk and the daughter of the late Vertly Howell Saunders and Joel Saunders, Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Walter Allen, Jr, three sisters and five brothers.

Mrs. Allen attended Suffolk Public Schools and later retired from Planters. She was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church for many years.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, John Walter Allen, III (Elmira, devoted daughter-in-law) of Suffolk, Va. , one brother, Earnest Saunders(Millicent) of Richmond, Va., one sister, Luella Thompson of Suffolk, Va.; four grandsons, two granddaughters, eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2007 at Metropolitan Baptist Church, Suffolk with Rev. Hobbs officiating. The wake will be held Friday at Crocker Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m. Interment will be held in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Friends may join the family at 1512 Lake Speight Drive, Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.
