SUSIE ANNIE GRAVES JACKSON 
 

SUFFOLK - Susie Annie Graves Jackson, 86, of 5640 Godwin Blvd., Suffolk, was called home to rest May 30, 2009. A native of Nansemond County, she was the daughter of the late Vernon Graves, Sr. and Sue M. Graves and the widow of Joseph L. Jackson, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Florine Graves; two sisters and five brothers.

Mrs. Jackson attended the Nansemond County Public Schools and the School of Nursing, Newport News. She was also a graduate of the New Mt. Joy Evangelist School of Ministry. She was retired from Gold Kist (Suffolk Peanut Company) and Oakland Christian Church. Early in life she joined Little Bethel Baptist Church where she founder of the Ten Friends Club, President and founder of the Little Bethel Christian Club and Chorus. She was church financial secretary, member of the Decorating Committee, President of family group, member of the Graves Echoes.As a member of New Mt. Joy Church of God In Christ, she served as president of the Pastor's Aide and Hospitality for 32 years. In her service to God at New Mt. Joy Food For Living Ministries, Inc. she served as a member of the Senior Choir, W. P. Wiggins Gospel Choir, the Mother's Board, Missionary Board and Trustee Board, Building Committee Chairperson and President of the Hospitality Committee.

Her survivors include, three daughters, Patricia L. Almond of Suffolk, Sue Deborah Burton of Bronx, NY, Connie D. Wiggins (Raymond) of Suffolk; her goddaughter, Patricia Hudgins of Suffolk; her sons, Joseph L. Jackson, Jr., Theodore A. Jackson and Vernon A. Jackson (Andre) of Suffolk; godson, Billie White of Norfolk; 29 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; three wonderful caregivers, Kenny Weeks, Nettie Bivins and Blanche Boykins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Homegoing service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009 at New Mount Joy Food for Living Ministries, Inc., officiated by Pastor Viola Parker and Bishop William P. Wiggins. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, (Chuckatuck) in Suffolk. Visitations are being received at the home of Mrs. Patricia Almond, 2521 Cedar Lake Drive, Suffolk.
