A graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Ms. Brown retired in 1999 after 44 years of service as a Quality Control Reviewer for Kraft Foods (Planters). She was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church where she was a member of the Missionary Circle. She was also a member of the NAACP, Local Union #26, East Suffolk Gardens Civic League where she was honored for Outstanding Service in 2003 and the Amicae Club and was named Amicae of the Year in 2001.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Linda Lassiter (Mack, Jr.) of Portsmouth and Valerie Roberts (Ronzell) of Suffolk; one son, David Outlaw (Renee) of Portsmouth; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Metropolitan Baptist Church, and will be officiated by the Rev. Dr. Robert Hobbs. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Crocker Funeral Home and, at other times, at 1224 Truman Road.
