Sarah Green, a devoted mother, was called to rest on 23 February 2010. She was predeceased by her husband, Elijah Green and her daughter, Phyllis Diane Green. She was born in Southampton County, Virginia on 23 August 1927 to the late Emmitt and Alice Mason. A product of the Southampton County School system, she continued her education at Norfolk State College pursuing a degree in Education.
She married the late Elijah Green on July 7, 1946 and together they raised eight children. She committed her life to her family, her church and her community. She served faithfully as a Missionary and Church Mother to Holy Trinity Church, Suffolk VA until she was called to rest.
Survivors include two sons, Willie (Barbara), James (Rose); five daughters, Mary Kindred, Paulette (James Barnes), Faith (Maynard Copeland), Elina Green , and Pamela (Michael Sessoms); one brother, Earl Mason; eleven grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren.
The celebration of life will be 27 February at 3:00 p.m. Oak Grove Baptis Church Viewing/Visitation will be from 2:00 -2:45 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
