SYVALIUS PITT 

 

SUFFOLK – Syvalius Pitt, 86, died July 3, 2008, in Sentara Obici Hospital. Born in Tarboro, NC, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Mozella Pitt.

Mr. Pitt was the former owner and operator of Easy Wash Laundromat. Mr. Pitt served in World War II as a member of the United States Air Force. After his tour of duty, he worked at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and had several independent business ventures. He attended Jersey City Technical Institute and Banneker Radio Institute.

He was predeceased by a sister, Rosa P. Pope and brothers, Nathan Pitt, Joshua Williams, and June Pitt.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of fifty-two years, Elizabeth L. Pitt; one daughter, Tonya Pitt Ricks; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday at Greater First Baptist Church, Orlando, Suffolk. The Rev. Henry G. Baker will officiate. Interment will be at Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
