SUFFOLK – Thelma L. Davis. 90, of 150 Lee Street, Suffolk, died Friday, September 19, 2008 in Sentara Obici Hospital. A native of Southampton County, Thelma was born to the late William and Laura Valentine and was preceded in death by her husbands, Charlie Shields and Carl Davis. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Wynn; a brother, William Valentine; and stepmother, Beatrice F. Valentine.

She was a long-time member of Metropolitan Baptist Church where she served on the Senior Usher Board and was a member of the Missionary Circle.

She is survived by a loving daughter, Olivia L. Shields (William T. Turner, Jr.); stepbrother, William Valentine of Hampton; three stepsisters, Shirley Walters of Somerset, NJ, Barbara Warren of Virginia Beach and Vineonie Pickett of Newark, NJ; one sister-in-law, Mary Alice Valentine; one brother-in-law, Abby Pickett; special nephew, Alvin Wynn; one niece and several other nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Metropolitan Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Robert E. Hobbs, Sr. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
