Virginia W. Thomas, 70, of 112 Woodrow Ave., Suffolk, passed away Nov. 30, 2007, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Suffolk, Va., and the daughter of the late Pauline People Thomas and Earnest Thomas. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Thomas; five brothers, Earnest Thomas, Newuit Thomas, Jermiah Thomas, Claude Thomas and William People, and her sister, Vivian Thomas.
Ms. Thomas attended Florence Bowser Elementary School. She was employed at the Jones Farm for 40 years.
She leaves to cherish her memory: five daughters, Barbara Joyner (Reuben), Margaret Newby (Floyd), Jennifer Thomas, Vivian Moore (Dewayne), all of Suffolk, Va., and Mary Thomas, of New York; three sons, Clifton Thomas (Annette), Gary Thomas and Claude Thomas, all of Suffolk, Va.; sister-in-law, Erma Thomas, of Detroit, Mich., 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at New Calvary Baptist Church, Suffolk. Interment will be held in Oaklawn Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
