FRANKLIN - Mr. Walter Douglas Twitty, 92, of 800 Gardner Street, Franklin, died December 25, 2007 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Isle of Wight County and the widower of Jimmie Twitty.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Franklin where he served as a Trustee and a member of the Franklin Male Chorus, and Family Choir. He was a retiree from Franklin Concrete and Paul D. Camp Community College. Douglas also served on the Franklin Beautification Committee.
Survivors include one sister, Ms. Dorothy R. Deloatche of Chesapeake; two nieces, Ella (Elson) Johnson and Barbara Twitty and one nephew, Levin (Betty) Twitty; two nieces-in-law, Edith Deloatch and Gloria Twitty; 13 nieces and nephews by marriage; and two very special godchildren, Shannon S. Harris and Michael B. Smith.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 318 Hall Street, Franklin. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery, Franklin. Crocker Funeral Home, Suffolk, will provide professional services.
